First time standard interiors had choice of all vinyl
or sporty cloth & vinyl. 4 new interior trim fabrics were offered,
including red. Wagons had fliper rear compartment windows, tinted glass and
a liftgate-open warning light. New carb calibrations and rears resulted in
major fuel econmy improvements. 3:18 gear ratio standard with 140 cid.
Optional V6 with cruise-o-matic only. Front suspension used short/long
arms w/ ball joints. Rear had longitudinal semi-elliptical leaf springs w/
rubber Iso-clamps at the axle. 4 rear leaf springs/ wagon had 5 Front

Runabouts &
Wagons had fold down seats and deluxe seatbelts. Runabouts had carpeted load
area. Runabout option added simulated woodgrain vinyl paneling on bodyside
& lower back panel, similar to Squire wagon option. Squire also also had
surround & B pillar moldings as well as belt, drip, and window frame
moldings. The Luxury Decor group included woodtone instrument panel, custom
steering wheel, passenger door courtesy light switch, and rear seat ashtray.
Targeting a young audience was the STALLION option which featured
special silver body paint & taping, black window & door moldings,
blacked-out wiper arms, hood, grill and lower back panel. Black tape treatment
went on rocker panel & wheel lip areas. Stallion (horse) decals went on the
front fenders. Also came with duel racing mirrors, styled steel wheel w/ trim
rings, A70X13 tires w/ raised white letters, and a "competition" handling
suspension.
